Over the course of the last century, the NBA has seen many great successful players. Of the many you think about, how many of them achieved something spectacular? We don’t see the best every decade, so that’s why you really have to break it down to who did something that no one else did. That’s why I think there is a solid 5 of them who belong on their own list.
I think the number 5 spot should go to Wilt Chamberlain. Wilt was extremely underappreciated. First off, he was 7,1 in the 60s, which was very impressive for his time. He was also rumored to score over 100 points in a single game; either way is very remarkable. Wilt was also very skilled at defense and blocking, which is expected of someone of his size.
Next, I think the number 4 spot should belong to Kobe Bryant. Everybody knows who Kobe was. An incredible NBA player and person. Kobe was multi-talented, as evident when he showcased his soccer skills by warming up with FC Barcelona. Kobe was also really talented on the court for the LA Lakers. I can also account for many of his high-scoring games against big rivalries. Again and again, he won multiple championships alongside Shaq, making them well-known all around.
The number 3 takes us to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Kareem made many things popularized during his time, like the sky hook, for example. It was an unmatched technique that was almost unguardable. The only recorded person to ever block Kareem’s unbelievable skyhook was Wilt Chamberlain, whom I talked about earlier. Kareem also kept an insane MVP record and a championship record through 6 years, which doesn’t happen often. With that, Kareem also kept his all-time scoring record for over 4 DECADES!
Next up to the number 2 spot brings us Lebron James, often known as King James. Lebron has made many significant achievements in his long-lasting career, like how he has cleared his name as the number 1 player leading in points, which is likely not to be broken any time soon. Lebron is often referred to as the GOAT of basketball, which I think is not so true, but he is still impressive. He is still incredible to be playing for after his 20-year mark has been given to him. He has been playing alongside many Hall of Fame players, which does give him partial credit.
I couldn’t end it off with anybody else but the GOAT, Michael Jordan. Michael has done many remarkable things, like golf, basketball, and baseball. In fact, later in Michael’s career, he played on a minor league baseball team affiliated with the White Sox, the Birmingham Barons. More to Michael’s basketball career, he achieved many different titles and MVPs. We can just start anywhere from the 6 different final recaps or his famous afterparties. MJ had many infamous rivalries, like the Bad Boy Pistons with Isiah Thomas or the Utah Jazz with Karl Malone and John Stockton. All of these built to his character as a player.
