Week 1 of the NFL is over, so let’s make the best week 2 fantasy football roster.
QB: Justin Fields
Fields and the Steelers play the Broncos on Sunday, who have a defense that has struggled for the past few seasons and will most likely not be great again this year. Fields is projected 18.8 points, and I think that is very realistic, considering starter Russell Wilson is questionable for this week. With George Pickens proving he can be a star wideout for Pittsburgh, he will most certainly be Fields’ number-one target. Although this is definitely an underrated pick, I think Fields can cook the Denver defense.
RB: Breece Hall
Hall is predicted to have 22.2 points in the Jets’ week 2 game against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. He had a rough week 1 performance against the 49ers, with 16 carries for only 54 yards and a touchdown. I strongly think that this won’t affect him for next week, as he still is one of the best backs in the NFL. And he’s playing the Titans, who are the 6th worst fantasy defense, only predicted to get 3.8 points in week 2. If New York can have an even balance between giving the ball to Hall and throwing to Garret Wilson, they will surely defeat the Titans, making their record 1-1.
WR: Tyreek Hill
No surprise that Tyreek’s name showed up on this list. He is projected to have 21.5 points in week 2 against the Bills defense, who have progressively started to struggle. The Bills defense is the 4th worst for fantasy points with only 3.7. Meanwhile, Hill averaged 18.6 yards per reception last week in the Dolphins’ win over the Jaguars, with 130 yards and a touchdown on only 7 catches. If Tua can find Tyreek like he has been, this will be a great game for Hill and the rest of the Miami Dolphins.
TE: Sam LaPorta
LaPorta has made his name known going into the 2024 season and had an alright game in week 1 vs. the Rams. With 45 yards on 4 receptions, he didn’t play necessarily badly, but he didn’t play as well as he could have. I strongly believe this is going to change in week 2, as he is projected 13.7 points against an average Tampa Bay defense. Jared Goff did really well throwing the ball in their first game of the year, and LaPorta is going to get many chances to prove himself in the league if Goff continues to play solid football.
FLEX: Xavier Worthy
Worthy had an explosive game in week 1 with 20.8 fantasy points, 2 receptions for 47 yards, and a touchdown in his first NFL game. He proved himself to be a great player and will continue to be great if Mahomes can get him the ball, which should not be an issue. Worthy is projected 11.9 fantasy points in week 2, and against a Bengals defense that is ranked 16th in the NFL, I don’t think this will be an issue at all.
D/ST: Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys defense played so good in week 1 in a 33-17 win over the Browns. Micah Parsons shut down Cleveland’s O-Line, and with 4 tackles and 1 sack, he set the tone for the whole game early. Dallas is projected 6.9 points against the Saints, who have not been playing that great recently. I think the Cowboys’ defense is a great pick, and they will most likely get a week 2 win.
K: Jake Moody
Moody is projected 8.1 points in week 2, where the 49ers will take on the Vikings. He had a total of 135 points scored in 2023 and had an incredible 93.8% make rate. I don’t think Moody will disappoint this season, and hopefully, he will have another great year in San Francisco.
