The Chiefs can finally be called a dynasty now

The Chiefs can finally be called a dynasty now

After what was the most boring first half in Super Bowl history, the game hit a complete 180 and came out as one of the most thrilling ends to a Super Bowl, with a final score of 25-22 Chiefs in overtime.

First, the 49ers’ shot themselves in the foot so hard. The first drive was going so well, then a fumble from McCaffrey was something no one saw coming. McCaffrey was the best rusher and had great ball security all season, then the first drive cost them potential points. They also abandoned the run for some reason. When you have the best rusher in the league you need to use him, instead they tried to throw deep against a very strong Chiefs secondary that bottled them up the whole game. Also, it never seemed like Purdy got comfortable. It seemed like for every good pass, he would make a bad read or throw. Also in my opinion, in OT on 4th down, and you know the Chiefs are gonna get the ball, I’m going for it to try and get a touchdown.

Now the Chiefs also shot themselves in the first half. They had a costly fumble by Pacheco while they were driving and inside the red zone, then there was also the constant QB pressure Mahomes was under. I get the 49ers’ have an elite pass rush but Mahomes had no time. It clearly showed that the Chiefs’ O-line wasn’t fully prepared for that pass rush then. Then Mahomes throws a costly interception, something you don’t see that often. But then in like a blink of an eye, the playoff dominant Chiefs decided to come out and play and they did not disappoint. Mahomes was slinging the ball all over and Kelce finally started to get involved more. They had so many fluent drives to end the game that the 49ers’ couldn’t handle including the OT game-winning drive.

You gotta give some respect to Purdy as he had a solid game. He threw 38 times and completed 23 of them for 255 yards and a touchdown, all in the biggest moment in football every year. But in the end, it wasn’t enough to dethrone Mahomes, as he threw for 46 times and completed 34 of them for 333 yards and two touchdowns, and one interception. Mahomes is just another level. The whole year Purdy was playing amazing, but when you see Purdy and Mahomes go head to head you can just see how much better Mahomes really is. He can be very calm and clutch while delivering absolute dots, also while being pressured by Nick Bosa. Mahomes just can’t be compared to anyone right now in the league. He is the undisputed best player and he just picked up his third ring in five years.

In terms of my bets, I guessed the winner correctly. I predicted Mahomes to win MVP, and I got that correct.  I also got Mahomes being over 200 yards correct. I was under on his touchdowns, I predicted three and he got two.  I predicted two interceptions for Purdy and got that wrong also; I predicted less than 150 yards for Purdy and got that wrong. But I got the leading rusher in McCaffrey correct and the leading receiver in Kelce correct. All in all, I did fairly well on this year’s Super Bowl.
