This spring sports season has certainly been successful for Ranger sports, from teams making history to building years for other programs. For the ladies varsity tennis team, this year has been a huge success. However, they have found this success for many years in a row now. As they wrap up their season, they have one more goal to accomplish: performing well at the state tournament.

The ladies started off their postseason run with the conference tournament. The ladies ended up placing third, but they competed against some of the toughest competitors in the area, such as Grand Rapids Christian and Forest Hills Northern. Lily Ohlman, one singles, earned all-conference, and so did Brooke Kushak and Megan Fox at one doubles. However, Lily Ohlman lost in the finals to GRC, and most other flights fell in the finals as well.

Next up for the ladies was the regional tournament that was held at FHC and FHN. The Rangers certainly showed up and showed out, as almost every single flight for the lady Rangers moved on to the finals at FHN. The Rangers placed second overall, only being two points away from first place. Lily Ohlman won her flight 6-2, 3-6, 6-1. Sophomore Quinn Breslin, two singles, lost in the finals to FHN as well, with a similar result with freshman Chloe Cox at four singles. Doubles went much the same, losing in the finals to FHN three out of the four flights. However, four doubles won and are the regional champions, after beating FHN in the finals—the tandem of Maggie Moog and Clare Knoester have showcased success all season. The regional competition was a huge success for the ladies this year, and it was their final stop on the road to the state tournament.

The state tournament will start next weekend on Friday and Saturday in Midland. Once again, the lady Rangers will be in contention for a state championship this year.
