Name: Frankie Sutton

Grade: Senior

Sport: Soccer

How has playing this sport impacted your life?

“I’ve been playing soccer since I was 3 years old so soccer has been a part of my life since I can remember. Soccer has taught me life skills such as patience, time management, how to work through problems, and how to work with other people. It has also given me so many memories to look back at.”

What is your favorite memory of this sport?

“My favorite memory of this sport from playing club soccer was when my travel team (Midwest United) traveled to California for a showcase. In high school, my favorite memory was winning the state championship last year. Our team worked hard and beat Marian who had won the state championship for the last 4 years.”

What is your favorite part of being on the team?

“My favorite part about being on the team is playing in front of my classmates and playing for my school and community. With club soccer, you weren’t really representing anyone but yourself but in high school, it’s more than that. You are wearing the FHC logo, representing your community, and fighting to beat other schools in your community.”

What is your go-to meal before a game?

“My go-to meal before a game is apples and peanut butter.”

Who has influenced your soccer career the most? Why?

“My older sister Stella has influenced my soccer career the most. We started playing soccer together for AYSO and then started playing club soccer together on the same team for Crew before it was named Midwest United. When she has always pushed me to become a better athlete myself and she helped me get through the rough bumps where I wanted to quit She played club until her junior year and I played club up until my sophomore year. Last year she was a senior and I was a junior we got to play one last season of soccer together after being separated by age group for most of our lives especially ending it with a state championship made it so special.”
