Ranger wrestling ended its season over a week ago, but for junior Ashley Schneck, her season ended just last Saturday, March 5, at Ford Field.

Ashley has been battling hard since freshman year to work her way up to the all-state title all four years, and with a clean win on Friday getting her past round one, she is ¾ the way to her goal.

“One of my biggest goals as a freshman was to be all-state for all four years of high school, and this accomplishment today puts me on track to complete that goal,” Ashley stated proudly. “Overall, this year’s state competition was the most difficult yet, and it introduced a lot of new fun competition.”

Alongside getting one year closer to her goal, Ashley did remarkably well with her growing field of competition and proved what it really means to not only be a Lady Ranger but also what it means to be Ranger strong.

“I had a lot of tough competition as the sport of girls wrestling has quadrupled in size since last year,” Ashley said. “I managed to beat a regional first-place finisher during my first match despite placing 4th in my region. This upset greatly helped my journey to the top eight in states!”

With this excitement on Ashley’s half, it is only imaginable how proud the coaching staff and team are of Ashley for making it as far as she did and representing FHC well. She has achieved incredible things at FHC and it is only a matter of time until she is back out on the mats ready to take on her next opponent.

“We are really proud of Ashley and the fact that she is a three-time state placer as a junior. Ashley works very hard and she had a great season,” head coach brad Anderson said. “Anytime you get down to the state tournament you find out how tough the sport really is.“

This season has truly been on for the books. Thanks to Ashley and her dedication to the sport, and as her senior year approaches, she will be on everyone’s minds as she crushes her competition and represents Ranger Country as the strong young lady she is. Although she has only started one goal for next season, Ashley will also be chasing her 100th win come next winter. This is an extremely big milestone in the wrestling community. Good luck with the rest of your career, Ashley!
