Boys JV basketball pounces Greenville 76-32

Last Friday, the boys JV basketball team executed a dominating 76-32 win over the Greenville Yellow Jackets. The Rangers jumped out to an early lead and kept the foot on the gas for the remainder of the game.

Sophomores Arthur Pelon and Calvin Balanda led the Rangers in an undefendable high-low offense that proved to be detrimental to the Yellow Jackets. Between Pelon’s quickness and Balanda’s height, this duo controlled a lot of the second half for the Rangers.

“It was such a fun game,” Arthur said postgame. “Specifically in the second half, coach George let us play freely, and we took advantage of the opportunity.”

Arthur had a career night, scoring 13 points for the Rangers. The second-half duo explosion is not to overshadow sophomore Levi McKenzie, who put up a staggering 17 points in the victory for the Rangers.

“The game against Greenville went extremely smooth,” Levi said. “There isn’t a whole lot more to say other than I was impressed with the way our team didn’t give Greenville the slightest chance to beat us on Tuesday.”

Head coach Jordan George shared the same emotions as Levi.

“I was particularly proud of some of our guys who haven’t had as much playing time this year,” George noted. “They came in and made big plays all night.”

In the second half of the game, Arthur, Calvin, and sophomore Lannan Partlo increased the score gap between Greenville and Central. The game concluded with a 44 point win, an impressive accomplishment for the Rangers.

The Rangers have improved to a 3-1 record. The boys have another big week ahead of them with games against Byron Center and Lowell the following week.
