This week marked a new milestone in the FHC community in one of the best ways possible; our FHC Ranger football team is officially 10-0 this season after a clean win against Reeths-Puffer in our first round of playoffs.

With a 9-0 season leading up to this week, the Rangers have constantly been working to be playoff ready, and their efforts were shown when they topped the Reeths-Puffer Rockets 32-6 on Ranger turf.

“It makes me proud as a team, we played really well tonight and it’s thanks to the hard work we have put in throughout the grind of a season,” senior Crandall Quinn said.

The first quarter started in typical Ranger fashion with FHC scoring first in what would be just the beginning of gameplay. Not long after, the Rockets fired back and scored a touchdown effortlessly, but missed the extra point making the score 7-6. Although this was a sliver of a lead for FHC, they wouldn’t allow another score through their Ranger defense the rest of the night.

Unlike an eventful first quarter, not a single point was added to the board in the second quarter, up until the last minute of the half when the Rangers went for three points with senior Andrew Novay sending the ball cleanly into the field goal ending the half with a score of 10-6.

After a spectacular Ranger halftime show, both teams returned to the field where the competition would only get tougher with every tick of the time clock. In the third quarter, the Rangers would get a touchdown and a successful two-point conversion to boost the score to 18-6 going into the last twelve minutes of gameplay.

The fourth quarter is when things heated up and the Rangers ran with the lead. FHC’s score went from eighteen to thirty-two in the span of ten minutes proving that there is no country like Ranger Country. The boys secured the win over the Rockets 32-6. This ended Reeths-Puffer’s season for 2022 with a record of 6-4 and extended the Ranger’s record to a perfect double-digit record of 10-0.

The Rangers will return to the field next week at home against Mona Shores on Friday, November 4, at 7 PM, for their biggest rivalry game of the season. The FHC Sports Report will also be doing a pregame show including its version of the Home Depot College Game Day show put on by its staff. Make sure to get to the game early to experience the show.

“This win means a lot to us, but we have to keep our eyes on the prize. It’s just week eleven for us, and we are treating this game like any other,” senior Michael Campbell said.
