Name: Annie Douma
Grade: Senior
Sport: Girls swim and dive
What is your favorite memory from swim?
“My favorite memory from swim was at my sophomore year conference meet. The 100-yard breaststroke became my main and favorite event this year, and at this conference meet, I dropped four seconds. I was so happy, and as soon as I got out of the pool a ton of my teammates came to hug and congratulate me.”
What is your favorite part about being on the team?
“My favorite part about being on the team is all the friendships and bonds I have made. Spending so much time with these girls creates a second family very quickly. Along with being close with my current teammates, I am still very close with many graduated teammates.”
What is something you are most proud of?
“I am most proud of the positivity captains Sydney VanLente, Payton Dailey, and I have tried to bring to the team this season. Swimming and diving are such mentally and physically exhausting sports, so we have really tried to keep team morale up this year through team bonding, mid-season gifts, and throughout our day-to-day practices.”
Who is your favorite professional athlete and why?
“My favorite athlete is Olympic swimmer Lydia Jacoby. At 17 years old, she shockingly won gold in the 100-yard breaststroke at the 2020 Olympics. She is my favorite not only because of her accomplishment but for how she inspires younger athletes.”
Do you plan on swimming after high school?
“I will not be swimming after high school.”
