Last night, the boys varsity tennis team had a close match against East Grand Rapids. The Rangers ended up on top with a 6-2 win over the Pioneers. Helping the Rangers take the lead, all four singles players won their matches, along with the one and three doubles teams.

Senior Jeremy James won his two singles match in just two sets, taking all the games in the first set and being 6-2 in the second set. Freshman Nico Notarnicola had tough competition during his four singles match, pushing him to go into three sets, but Nico pulled through and won his match. Sophomores Sammy Yin and Chris Shang dominated their matches in two sets as well, making the singles players 4-0 for the day.

After having to play with masks during their match against Lowell on Wednesday, the boys were very excited to go back to the way they had been playing all season by not having to wear one.

The boys’ next match is a quad this Saturday. The singles players will be at North Point Christian, while the doubles teams will play at home. They will be playing Portage Central, Ann Arbor Greenhills, and Traverse City St. Francis.
