JV boys soccer closes out the regular season with a tough loss against South Christian

On Thursday, the JV boys soccer team found themselves in the crisp cold fall air of the South Christian Sports Park where they faced off against the Sailors of South Christian in their last regular season match.

The boys came into this game hoping to end their season on a win, but the Sailors had other plans. The Rangers struggled to find their groove early because they were playing on grass, which is very different from the turf in Ranger Stadium. This was enough for the Rangers to concede a goal late in the first half.

The boys were 1-0 down going into the second half and they did not back down. The team started the second half with good intensity but it wasn’t enough to level the score. Ultimately, the Rangers fell to the Sailors in their last game of the season putting their record at 6-7-2.

Although the regular season ended with a loss, they were content with how it played out. Sophomore Owen Ballou shared his thoughts on how he feels the season has gone. “Despite our record, I think the season has gone well and we’ve grown a lot as players.”

Not only do the boys look back on the season, but they also look forward to the OK White Conference Tournament. Starting Monday, the team will have three games that span over two weeks. This will give the boys an opportunity to stake their place in the conference. Freshman Colton Comiskey is very hopeful for the games ahead. “My goal for the conference tournament is to hopefully turn our season around and to prove that we are a good team.”

The boys play against Byron Center at home, on Monday, at 5 in the first round of the OK White Conference Tournament.
