Girls JV golf tees up for another week of competition
As the girls soar into the season, they’re teeing up, charging forward, and making Ranger Country proud.
The girls were set to play the Greenville Yellowjackets at Glenkerry Golf Course on August 31st, but they ended up being short two players and so FHC won by default. On September 8th, the girls were defeated by Byron Center 201 to 231. Following this loss on September 12th, the girls played against Northview and Byron Center. The scores were as follows: Byron Center 175, FHC 197, and Northview 203. They were able to gain a win and a loss. Over all three games, FHC’s top shooter was sophomore Emmary Mckee with scores in the low forties and fifties.
Returning sophomore Estella Yaw shares her love for the team and the season.
“I think the team is doing really well and I’m so excited for the rest of the season,” Estella said. “It has been a super fun team so far and we are all very supportive of each other.”
The team will be traveling to Boulder Creek Golf Course, today, September 14th, at 3:00. They will be playing against Forest Hills Northern and Northview. This will be their ninth match.
Coach Chris Sobieck is very proud of the team and their commitment to learning and improving.
“This team is just so new to the game that there is so much to learn. I love their effort and how they come to practice every day trying to get better,” Sobieck said. “Each match is another opportunity to learn and grow and I believe this team is really starting to work towards the next step in improving and having lower scores as we work to the end of the season.”
