A tough double-header against Lowell on Monday was just the way the Rangers were able to get into the swing of conference play. A close 6-5 win to start the day was a great jump to start the week, but a blowout 9-1 loss to the Red Arrows to end the night wasn’t what the team was looking for, ending the undefeated streak to start the season.

Game one saw a little bit of everything, from great defensive plays to red-hot bats continuing to produce runs. Yet again, first-year varsity players JT Hartman and Ty Hudkins continued to shine. Tallying a combined three hits, the dynamic sophomore duo drove in most of the runs for the Rangers. A great pitching performance to close out the game sealed the 6-5 win for FHC going into game two.

Game two saw the Red Arrows finally get into a groove and figure out the Rangers’ pitching at the plate. An early rally put FHC down big in the game and Lowell never turned back. The Ranger bats could never get going all game, but a couple of runs were saved from great plays in the field by seniors Matthew Mittlestadt and Joe Robertson. In the end, the Red Arrows took game two and will face off with the Rangers again on Wednesday in a rubber match for the series win.

Now at a 7-1 record, the Rangers will finish a three-game series with Lowell on Wednesday, April 27, at 4:15 PM at Lowell. Later in the week, the Rangers will welcome non-conference opponent Caledonia on Friday for a doubleheader.
