FHC track and field highlights its talent at Aquinas

Forest Hills Central track and field showcased its talent at Aquinas College’s indoor track this past Tuesday, March 29. This exclusive meet consisted of only three athletes per event and included 11 other schools. The indoor meet provides a variety of challenges, including irregular track shape, lack of teammates, and lack of space to warm up. Yet, despite all of these hardships, FHC track and field managed to prevail.

In the women’s 60-meter dash, which is normally 100 meters, Lucy Yoder snagged fifth place with a time of 8.34 seconds. The men’s 60-meter dash was run by Jayden Savin taking 12th overall with a time of 7.56 seconds.

FHC’s bread and butter, the 4×400 meter dash, was dominated by FHC. The boys 4×400 team, which includes Evan Boucher, Max Meadow, Jayden Savin, and Sam Yeager, took 5th place with a time of 3 minutes and 42.15 seconds. The girl’s team, which includes Marissa Lunt, Grace Fitzgerald, Peyton Ludwig, and Zenash Cumings, secured 3rd place with an impressive time of 4 minutes and 26.70 seconds.

Fields events were no exception for FHC domination, with Alex Kaufmann taking ninth in the pole vault with a height of 9 feet. Brooke Bowers managed a staggering 12-foot vault to take 1st place at the meet.

“It was a good first meet with a lot of fast teams there,” Sam said. “It gave us a gauge of where we were and what we could work on. Definitely excited for the rest of the season!”

The Rangers are off to a strong start and still have the entire season ahead of them. To come and see them in action, make it out to the Ranger stadium at 4:15 p.m on April 13, 2022.
