Boys JV basketball sweeps Grand Rapids Christian in a 53-43 win on Friday
The boys JV basketball team took down Grand Rapids Christian last Friday 53-43. The Rangers were led by sophomore Brady Miller, who scored 15 points to rally the boys to a victory. This win keeps the Rangers in first place in the OK White conference and guarantees the conference title.
“It felt good to sweep Christian this season,” Brady said. “They are the next best team in the conference, and I think that with this win, we have won the conference.”
The Rangers played a solid game on both ends of the floor. However, this game was won because of the Rangers’ incredible display on defense. Sophomore guards Mason McDonald and Tyler Hudkins applied a lot of pressure on the Christian backcourt. This led to turnovers and easy transitions baskets for the Rangers. Sophomore J Coe played a good game and contributed on the boards by snagging roughly eight rebounds.
“We executed on both sides of the ball,” Brady said. “The whole theme to this season is that the only team that can beat us is ourselves, and I think we proved that in this game.”
The Rangers are 16-1 on the season and have clinched the OK White conference title. With only three games left to play, the Rangers are looking to close out the season and remain undefeated in conference play.
“We have won 12 games in a row,” J said. “As long as we remain focused on our execution, I think we have a really good chance to go undefeated in the conference.”
