Boys JV basketball continues its dominance with a 57-46 win over FHN
Last Friday, the boys JV basketball team capped off a great week with a 57-46 win over Forest Hills Northern. Sophomore J Coe led the Rangers in scoring with 16 points, and Brady Miller followed with 11 of his own. This win came on the road after a dominating win against East Grand Rapids earlier in the week. The Rangers are sitting comfortably at the top of the OK White and will have a chance to close out the conference title this week.
“Our team is in a nice groove right now and currently sitting at first place in the OK White,” head coach Ike Tilden said.
The Rangers led for the majority of the game. Then, in the third quarter, J Coe stepped up and dominated the paint. He grabbed three rebounds and scored four points in a matter of three minutes. This helped to fend off the Huskies’ late charge in the second half.
“I think we did a good job getting rebounds and getting second-chance opportunities for the team,” Coe said. “We are playing well as a team right now, and we are hoping that we continue to do that for the rest of the year.”
This week, the Rangers have another tough schedule. On Tuesday, the boys will face Northview for the first time on the road. They will travel to Grand Rapids Christian on Friday to see the Eagles for the second time. With the way the Rangers are playing right now, it is tough to see a loss shortly. However, the boys will continue to keep their focus on the next game.
“Northview is a really good program, and we are excited to compete against them,” J said.
