It was yet another special game for senior Theryn Hallock in Tuesday night’s 50-27 win over Northview, as she scored 25 points and had a plethora of assists and rebounds. Overall, head coach Kristina Prins was happy with the overall team effort after the last game.

“It was a great team win,” coach Prins said. “Every player contributed to the win and got a lot of solid minutes.”

After an up and down week with a 1-1 record, the Lady Rangers looked to add to the win column against Northview.

In the first quarter, Northview kept it mostly close. Theryn scored 10 points in the quarter, which included a three-pointer and three finishes at the rim. She drained a free throw as well and other players like fellow senior Madison Wilkins and junior Delaney Smith both scored baskets to give the Rangers a 14-8 lead at the end of the quarter.

The second quarter saw more widespread scoring with Madison and Theryn acquiring 2 points each. Along with them, junior Maya Holser and sophomore Maggie Sneider also got some nice finishes to drop. Playing prominent defense on the other end of the court, the girls kept a great presence and were up 26-17 at halftime.

The second half was a blowout compared to the first half. The Lady Ranger defense held the Wildcats to only 10 points in the entire half while it continued to bring pressure on the offensive end. Theryn scored 13 in the second half with a couple of threes and going 5 for 6 on free throws. The night also saw Maya score 3 points in the second half while Delaney and Maggie scored 2 each. In the end, the Rangers solidified their convincing 50-27 win. Maya and Maggie each finished with 5 points while Delaney and Madison both finished with 4.

“It was great that every player last night got minutes and we hope to keep this momentum going later in the week with more big matchups,” coach Prins said.

After this win, the girls are now 6-4 and 2-1 in conference play. They will play at home next Friday, January 21, at 7:30 PM. They will welcome in the Grand Rapids Christian Eagles, a team they split the season series with last year.
