FHC’s gymnastics team starts off strong this season
The Forest Hills Central gymnastics team has made its seasonal return this past week under coach Lauren Suzio with a close meet at Rockford High School.
This past week, the Forest Hills Central gymnastics team faced off against multiple opponents at Rockford High School. The Rangers were separated into two teams to face off against the other schools.
FHC Team Purple placed sixth out of sixteen teams with an overall score of 134.525, and FHC Team Black placed fifteenth with an overall score of 75.500.
Altogether, it was a great showing from the team early on in the season.
In the vault competition, the Black Team had two participants in Kennedy Zint and Megan Wilson combining for a score of 16.350. The Purple Team had four participants: Abby Cummings, Bronwen Smith, Charlotte Stephan, and Maddie Bachert. They achieved a combined score of 33.875.
In uneven bars, the Black Team scored 14.500 thanks to Addison Hoxworth and Kennedy Zint. The Purple Team had a connected score of 31.750 with help from Abby Cummings, Bronwen Smith, Alyssa Wierenga, and Charlotte Stephan.
In the balance beam competition, the Purple Team amassed 33.850 points, with all members of the team competing. The Black Team notched 14.300 points with Kennedy and Megan competing.
In the final competition–floor exercise–the Black Team achieved a combined 30.350 with all members of the team participating. The Purple Team had a conjoined score of 35.050, once again with all members.
The final standings put the Purple Team in sixth place and the Black Team in fifteenth to wrap up an overall great meet from FHC.
