Freshman boys basketball overpowers Lowell in 68-18 win

With conference play opening up, the boys freshman basketball team locked into its goal of winning the conference; that started with the first conference game against the Red Arrows of Lowell. The Rangers were 4-1 heading into the matchup and it seemed easy for the team to overlook Lowell.

Regardless, the boys silenced that thought right out of the jump, getting out to a fast start. Although Lowell seemed ready, the Rangers intimated the Red Arrows with their height and defensive pressure. Many of the starters were in for the first few minutes and they went up big as a result.

Throughout the first part of the game, FHC controlled the pace and scored 41 first-half points.

FHC’s dominant offensive attack slowed down in the second half, but the defensive pressure continued. Denis Medic led all scorers with 18 points and Aaron Schellenburg added 12 points of his own. Tyler Dickinson also had nine points and Braedon Ruzema had seven points. The Rangers controlled the whole game, winning 68-18.

After its first conference win, the boys freshman team improves to 5-1 and 1-0 in conference play. In its next game, FHC will take on East Grand Rapids on Tuesday, January 11th.
