What looked to be like a tough game for the Lady Rangers on Wednesday night turned out to be a close game throughout. In the end, though, Rockford pulled out a 69-53 win over FHC, ending the girls’ season, as well Theryn Hallock’s legendary career.

The entire first half was close, with both teams trading buckets to start. Rockford had the hot hand to start, jumping to a 10-5 lead quickly; nevertheless, the ladies never gave in. Junior Thea Sloat scored a layup to end the first to keep the contest close, and as always, senior Theryn Hallock beat her defenders for easy layups down the court. Another close second quarter saw sophomore Maggie Sneider step up big with 6 points in the quarter. The teams were knotted up nearing halftime, but Rockford hit a run right before the half ended. The girls were down 35-26 at halftime, but hope was not lost yet for the team.

Great defense was played to start the second half, but the Rams scoring attack was just starting to get going. A 42-30 deficit stared down the Rangers halfway through the third. It hasn’t been the first time the Rangers have seen adversity this season, so the Rangers just kept chipping away. Going into the fourth quarter, Theryn carried the team on her back, scoring at ease to start the quarter and forcing a Rockford timeout near the end of the quarter. Despite forcing the timeout late, Rockford pulled away in the end 69-53, ending an excellent season for the girls. Theryn Hallock ended her record-breaking, four-year varsity career at FHC with a 34-point outing. The Lady Rangers have a lot to look forward to in the future, and Theryn has set up a great line of leaders in the program for the near future.

After a 10-12 season, FHC will be without stellar seniors Theryn Hallock and Madison Wilkins. However, great players like Thea, Delaney Smith, Maya Holser, and Maggie Sneider all remain in the program and look to feed off of this season’s success next year.
