Girls JV field hockey ties Novi in a close game

The JV girls field hockey team has kept its morale high for the past two games this week against Grosse Point South and Novi. The girls continue to fight for victories that they have worked hard for all season.

The ladies fell to Grosse Point South 1-2 in a very close matchup. Novi was their next match on September 29, and the girls added another tie to their record by going scoreless for the whole game.

Sophomore Sydney Fentzke reflected back on the past few games with optimism.

“Both of our goalies, from JV and varsity, were injured, so we put in new people at goalie,” Sydney said. “Offensively and defensively, despite losing,  we held our ground against a really tough team and we’re doing really good.”

Although the season might not be going the exact way the girls would have hoped, the season has still been a roller coaster for the team. Before this week, the girls sat comfortably with only two losses and the rest of their games being ties. This is extremely impressive considering how talented the teams on the east side of the state are. Ann Arbor schools have been quite the challenge for the girls, but the team keeps on fighting.

With only two games left on the girls’ schedule, it is the best time for the team to come together and do what they do best. The team plays Detriot Country Day next on October 9, at FHC’s home turf. The girls will test their strength against yet another outstanding team.
