JV field hockey stands its ground against any opponent coming its way
As soon as the JV field hockey team walks on the field, it means business; pregame jitters don’t exist. The fierce Forest Hills JV Field Hockey team never fails to deliver in its performances—no matter how much pressure is on their backs.
The Forest Hills Field Hockey team is composed of girls from all three high schools in the district and has a mix of freshmen and juniors. They also welcomed a player from Lowell onto the team this year, which helped shake up the roster. Representing almost half of the team, there are 12 FHC girls on the roster.
“We have a team of almost all new players who have never played the game before,” sophomore Sydney Fentzke said. “We’ve had team bonding, and we’ve gotten to know each other really quickly. The newer players have really improved.”
So far, Forest Hills has played four games this season. The girls have played Rockford twice, as well as Ann Arbor Pioneer and Ann Arbor Huron. Although the girls haven’t won a game yet, that doesn’t mean that they are backing down. On the contrary, they sit early in the season with four ties and are patiently awaiting a coveted victory.
On top of defending their score streak without a single loss so far, the girls have been working towards adding their first win to the board. The girls may be new to the sport, but they have proved early on that inexperience doesn’t always lead to insurmountable score deficits or blowouts.
The girls field hockey team is going to be a team to watch out for this season. The girls’ exciting season will continue when the girls host East Grand Rapids on Tuesday, September 14.
