Varsity softball loses to Wyoming in district semifinals 10-0

The varsity softball team took on the Wyoming Wolves after a big first-round win against rival East Grand Rapids. FHC faced a tough Wyoming team that had a record of 23-10. Heading into the game, the girls knew it would be a tough matchup and looked to bring the best they had. Unfortunately for the Rangers, they struggled at the plate, which led to a 10-0 loss.

A hitting drought at the plate was evident as soon as the game started; FHC tried as hard as possible but could not find success. They ended up with two total hits the whole game that came from sophomore Maya Holser and senior Abby Davis. Wyoming’s pitcher had a great game, striking out 12 batters in seven innings. Senior Faith Addington pitched for the Rangers and showed off the grit she’s had all year. In seven innings, she had three strikeouts, a WHIP of 2.14, and an FPS of 17.

After the win versus FHC, Wyoming won its next game against Lowell to secure the district championship. The Rangers end the season with a 15-20 record. An up and down season ended on a down note, but the girls fought hard until the end of their season.
