Girls JV softball ends season going 1-1 against Calvin Christian

The girls JV Softball team faced off against Calvin Christian last night in its last two games of the season. The Rangers ended up losing 14-3 in five total innings.

The girls mustered only had 4 hits, with sophomore Lauren Halverson possessing three of them and Riley Koehler bunting for the other hit.

The girls made 5 errors total, improving from last week; however, there is still room for improvement. When speaking with head coach Lisa Udell, it was clear that FHC’s ability and capacity for success were not reflected in this particular game.

“We did not hit as efficiently and still made some errors, which hurt us in the long run,” Udell said.

The second game against Calvin Christian had a different outcome; the Rangers beat the Knights 15-10. The girls hit the ball very well and made a minimum amount of errors, leading them to a write-up in the win category.

Lauren Halverson and Anna Thornburg went 3-4 on hitting, along with Charlotte Stephen crushing a 3-run home run for a huge momentum booster.

The Rangers succeeded offensively in their last game of the year. Despite their 12-20 record, the girls hope to make big improvements in the offseason for next year.
