After going 2-1 in a closely-fought Byron Center series, the JV baseball team showed why it is regarded as one of the best JV teams in the conference. The team would defeat FHN in the first two games of the three-game series. In game one, the Rangers had to bounce back from giving up 4 errors by knocking off 12 hits, including sophomore Justin Osterhouse’s 3 hits and one RBI, fellow sophomore Sam Ardinger going for 2 hits, and JT Hartman hitting 2-4 with an RBI. Freshman pitching phenom Carson Custer threw a strong 6 inning and 10 strikeout performance that led FHC to an 8-5 victory.

In game two, the Rangers would start slow as they only eclipsed one run in the first three innings; they were down 4-1 going into the fourth inning. Yet, FHC would come right back after freshman Ty Hudkins tripled and JT Hartman clutching up with a game-tying single to bring the game to 5-5 in the 6th. In the eighth inning, sophomore Arthur Pelon would drill a line drive out the left-center fence for a triple. Ty Hudkins followed this up with a walk-off hit to center field for the 6-5 win.

The Rangers are now 26-3 in what seems to be an almost perfect season. FHC will wrap the season up with its last game against Northern on Wednesday, May 26.
