On Thursday, the freshman baseball team faced off against Grand Rapids Christian in a doubleheader. The boys comfortably won both of the games by scores of 4-0 and 8-4. In the four matchups against the Eagles this season, FHC is 6-2 against them. This is the second time they have had to face the Eagles in doubleheader format.

In the first matchup, Roman Brummel had an outstanding pitching performance on the mound. The score showed zero runs were scored in the first game. The boys also played well overall, defensively assisting Roman’s performance. In the second matchup, the Rangers played amazing offensively and notched eight runs. Hayden Myers led the team in hitting with some powerful hits; this game was also Jacob Robertson’s first game back since the start of the season. Overall, the boys had the energy this game to help them defeat a solid Eagles squad.

“We played really well with good energy,” Drew Fortino said.

FHC’s next matchup is against an excellent Byron Center Bulldogs team on Tuesday, May 25. The boys split 1-1 both times in their last two doubleheaders versus the Bulldogs. With this in mind, the team is looking to continue its winning streak to end the season on a high note.
