The JV water polo team has had a great season so far, winning six games. Up until this game against Jenison, the team was undefeated but unfortunately fell by one goal to the Wildcats, losing 7-6. The girls have been very successful so far this season, especially with their scoring and swimming abilities. Although they were still able to score six goals against Jenison, it wasn’t enough to keep up their winning streak.

The girls had played and won 9-4 against Jenison previously. Wanting to win again, northern freshman Anna Wierchertjes had yet another great game to help out the team. Anna has been the team’s main sprinter this season, and despite Jenison’s speed, she was able to win two of the four sprints. Anna had four shots that turned into two goals, and she also had two steals.

Also having a great game was FHC freshman Ashley Schenck. Playing her role on defense, Ashley had the most steals of the game at 4. Freshman Rutaja Nadguada also performed well in Thursday’s game. Rutaja had three shots, making two of them to add to the team’s overall score. She also had two steals. The 7-6 loss proved to be a minor setback; however, this team has lots of time to bounce back.

The girls will compete at Grand Haven on Tuesday against the Buccaneers in an attempt to come back from their Jenison loss.
