Competing against different opponents than their usual conference, the track and field teams faced some very skilled athletes over the weekend. The girls raced on Friday and were able to earn 59 points, putting them in fourth place. The boys raced on Saturday and placed sixth out of twelve teams.

The girls put up a good fight with several first-place finishes. Freshman Peyton Ludwig had a great race in the 800-meter event. She finished first with a time of 2:26.09, a personal best. Another first-place finish came from freshman Clara James-Heer in the 3200-meter race. Clara beat her opponents with a time of 10:38.88.

The team’s 4-by-800 relay also contributed to its overall fourth-place finish. Going 10:06.37, the team of senior Whitney Currie, Peyton Ludwig, Clara James-Heer, and junior Rachel Marco placed first. Freshman Brooke Bowers also added to the team’s overall score with her first-place finish in the pole vault going 12-00.00.

Although the boys didn’t have any first-place finishes, they had a lot of top tens that helped them place sixth. Not surprisingly, senior Kyle James-Heer had a great race in his one mile. Kyle PR’d and went 4:39.18, putting him in second place. Next was the 4-by-400 relay in which the boys were able to place third. The team of junior Evan Boucher, senior Jonah Cumings, senior Dallas Hopson, and junior Sam Yeager went 3:36.34.

On the field side of the meet, the Rangers were lucky to have seniors Sam Musgraves and Dallas Hopson on their side. Sam placed sixth in the pole vault by going 11 feet, a personal best. Dallas then placed third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.40.

The Rangers will be back to racing within their conference on Thursday, April 29 at 4:30. The meet will take place at Northview against multiple opponents.
