Girls varsity soccer had yet another defensively dominating game against new-found OK White opponent Grand Rapids Christian. Although this matchup was a highly defensive infused game, the Rangers found a shining light in their offense: sophomore Dailey Tucker. Dailey was the only Ranger for the night to score a goal, as she in fact had two compared to the Eagles one.

With the season in full swing and the beginning of conference play, FHC figured this game was a must win in order to keep their hot streak alive. With a now 5-0 start, the girls decided to keep the same formation that had seemed to work well in the past games. The brick wall of senior Autumn Burns and Zoe Lipke held strong for majority of the game, with junior goalkeeper Ava Wilberding being the strong last one on defense. This trio managed to stop the swift Christian attack until about halfway through the second half when the Eagles pulled off an impressive stunt and buried the ball in the back of the net to go up one.

The Rangers couldn’t quite get a solid shot in the first half of regulation, but came out firing in the second. Within the first 40 seconds, Dailey snuck the ball past the opposing keeper to make it 1-1. After a very back and forth rest of the half, the score was still tied at ones until the last 6 minutes. This is where senior Megan Clayton crossed the ball on a dime to Dailey yet again, who put it in the net to finalize the game.

The Rangers now fall 2-0 in the OK White with their next matchup against Gull Lake at home on Monday, April 26.
