Girls JV soccer easily takes down East Kentwood 8-0

On Friday, March 26th, the girls JV soccer team kicked off its season against East Kentwood. The girls were thrilled to begin this season since it was cut short last year due to COVID-19 and wanted to come out strong. The girls did just that; they mercied EK by scoring eight goals in the first half, ending the game a half early.

“It has been a while since I played, so it feels good to be back, and I’m excited to be meeting new people,” sophomore Thea Sloat said. “I think this season will go well. We have a lot of strong players, and everyone gets along well.”

Throughout the first half, a number of players came together to score the eight goals. Sophomores Frankie Sutton and Audrey Kind with freshmen Skyler Tierney and Maya Sneider all scored against the Falcons. They all played very well together considering it was the first game of the season and with the team consisting of a lot of new faces. They pressured hard and made sure to take advantage of their opponents at the right moments, opening the pathway to a mercy.

“We have a positive and uplifting atmosphere, and I think everyone is just happy to be able to have a season,” Thea said.

The girls’ next game will take place after spring break at home. They will play on Wednesday, April 14th against conference foe Greenville.
