The Lady Rangers Varsity Volleyball team opened up their home game schedule against Grand Rapids Christian on the first day of October. FHC faced a tough opponent and ultimately fell short 3-0.
Before the game started, FHC had a chance to recognize their 5 seniors: Meredith Bethea, CC Rodriguez, Kinzi Tilton, Ella O’Connor, and Kaitlyn Childers.
The first set started off a little rocky for the Rangers. The team wasn’t working together as a team fluidly enough, which accounted for many minor mistakes that ended up being crucial. They also did not play to the full of their potential, which dampened the mood for the rest of the game. GRC took the first set.
In the second set, the Lady Rangers increased their togetherness, which helped them pick up the pace they were playing at. Unfortunately, while FHC was playing better as a team, they were still struggling with the execution of ball movement and lost the second set.
On the brink of getting swept, FHC changed their momentum and mindset for the third set. FHC made it look like it was possible to make a comeback with the change in their gameplay. Many back-and-forth points were played, which set the game to be neck-and-neck. Unfortunately, the Rangers’ efforts were not enough, and they ended up falling short of GRC.
The Rangers are looking to improve for their next game, which is against Catholic Central on October 15th.
