The NFL 2024 season kicks off this week, with many teams having a fair chance at making the playoffs. Last year, the Lions won against the Rams in what was a close game, with a score of 24-23, which achieved the Lions their first playoff win since 1992, ending their 32-year drought.
But now, the Rams are returning to Detroit for their first game on Sunday night, and whether or not they will get their revenge for last year’s playoff game is the big question.
The Lions had a phenomenal season last year, and with new additions over the off-season, I think this team is going to be even better. The Rams’ offseason doesn’t bring as high hopes to this season as the Lions, losing Aaron Donald, who was an incredible defensive player and a big part of the Rams’ Defense.
1st quarter:
I predict that the Lions will take an early lead, with Detroit’s upgraded defense stopping the Rams early on. I predict that at the end of the first quarter, the score will be 17-7 with the Lions in front.
2nd quarter:
The Rams improve their game by getting one more touchdown, but can’t keep up with the newly improved Lions. The Lions’ addition of kicker Jakes Bates creates a better opportunity to make field goals than last season, instead of attempting fourths down, which Dan Campbell was known to not back down from. I believe that they won’t try for fourth downs as much with this new addition. The score will be 27-14, with the Lions ahead going into halftime.
3rd quarter:
I don’t predict this to be as big a game as it was last season in the playoffs, as the Rams are not as competitive as they entered Ford Field last year. I think the Rams definitely have slight potential with great players such as Puka Nacua, Cooper Kupp, and Matthew Stafford, but this won’t cut it to be a top Super Bowl contender. The Lions, I believe, have the potential to make it to the Super Bowl and be a top team this year, coming out of one of the best years in the team’s history. I predict a score of 34-17, with the Lions still at the top at the end of this quarter.
4th quarter:
The fourth and final quarter will be the last chance for the Rams to show everybody what they have in for this game, so I predict they step up their game, stop the Lions, and in the middle of it, score a touchdown, trying to come back and beat the Lions. Although, the Lions are too much for them and win, with a nice final score of 34-24.
Last year, the Lions showed the world what they’re really made of, and over the offseason, they have really made this team a top contender. After last year’s sad loss in the NFC championship in San Francisco, I really think this team has what it takes to win it all this season.
