Four years, eight sports seasons, twelve seasonal breaks, one district championship, two school records, and forty-eight exams. I can’t sum up my time here at FHC into a few paragraphs but I can give a little breakdown.
Being a Ranger was fun, and filled with some of the best experiences I or anyone could ask for. Now as I continue to the next chapter
Thank you to FHC soccer, and also the sport that’s been the biggest part of my life for the past decade and a half. Being on the field with some of the greatest people and teams over the past couple of years has been everything I could have asked for. Thank you to both my club and high school coaches, Paul, Mark, TJ, Rob, and many others for the incredible guidance you’ve provided me with and how I work with a team of people.
To track and cross country, my time isn’t over quite yet and I don’t plan on it being soon. Thank you for the incredible bus rides, the hard workouts, the long meets, and everything else in between. This sport has been a roller coaster for me, filled with the highest of highs from celebration down to the hell that comes with the burning sensation of lactic acid: something I’ll never be able to get used to. But what I’ve come to learn every single year is that the highs will always substantially outweigh the lows. The atmosphere of the team and the celebration that comes with every new personal record overcomes the feeling of total leg immobility (almost) every time. To the coaches Ryan (Gus), Craig, Dan, Coach Steverson, and many others, a single thank you isn’t even close to what you deserve. Thank you for believing in me and the progress I could achieve over these past four years. To be where I am today in the sport is in large part due to the discipline you’ve laid upon me and the guidance you’ve provided me with.
To my teammates across all three sports, I can’t thank you guys enough for making every single season the best possible. From the brotherhood developed on the field and pre-season conditioning, to seeing a team lined up on the home stretch cheering me towards the finish line, being a part of three successful and fun FHC teams has been the best thing I could ask for.
To teachers and staff, a huge thank you for preparing me to go on to the next chapter. A special thank you to Mrs. Lipke, you’ve always treated me like a part of your family and that’s something I’m deeply grateful for. Thank you for your guidance over the last four and then some years, greatly helping me become who I am today. To Mr. George, I know we but heads from time to time, but when it comes to improving me as a writer, we’ve set our opinions aside and you’ve excelled in that department.
Finally, to the class of ’24 here at FHC. I’m extremely thankful to go down as a Ranger alongside some of the greatest people I’ve been able to meet. Thank you for making the last four years filled with the greatest moments and experiences I could ever want,
Now as I move forward and look back upon four years of my life with a bittersweet feeling, I’m glad to say that I lived it the way I did and wouldn’t want to change a thing. Been Real, FHC.
