Gymnastics falls short to Rockford

This week, the Forest Hills gymnastics team was defeated by Rockford, and it wasn’t a close one against the Rams. Even though it wasn’t as close of a competition as their previous matchup last week against Lowell, the girls still held their heads high and competed to the very last ricochet of the parallel bars.

“The team did pretty good overall, but we mostly had some struggles on bars,” FHN senior Hannah Chadwick said.

Although the meet started out rough, the girls were determined to make a comeback. As fate would have it, the comeback never played out as they wanted it to. With that said, a few individual gymnasts had some pretty impressive performances.

For instance, sophomore phenom Abby Cummings has recently been excelling and scoring high in her floor, beam, and bar events. Junior Alyssa Wierenga and sophomore Payton Dailey, meanwhile, also helped the team succeed by scoring 9.1 on beams and floor.

This group of gymnasts is definitely not an easy opponent to face. Abby Cummings and company will look to prove their 0-2 record does not reflect who they really are as gymnasts as they are slated to go up against Kenowa Hills next week on February 22nd.
