As a young team with many underclassmen adapting to the intensity of high school athletics, the cheer team has no shortage of adversity to overcome this season.  After placing fifth at the Northview Invitational, the girls know they have a lot of potential for improvement.

“We are a relatively new team this year,” senior Lydia VanDeRiet said. “Although we didn’t place well, there was definitely an improvement from last time.”

The Rangers started off with a fourth-place round 1 performance, scoring 193.3 points. This was followed by a third-place round 2 that put up 176.78 points, leaving the girls with a subtotal of 370.08 points. In the third round, the ladies were presented with one final opportunity to determine their placings. The team was able to score an additional 201.4 points in the concluding round. This left the Rangers in fifth place with a grand total of 571.48 points.

The cheer team with have its next competition on Wednesday the 24th at 10:00 AM. The event will take place at Forest Hills Northern against multiple opponents.
