Ava Metaj has been an athlete for her whole life, playing a plethora of sports: soccer, basketball, golf, and track. As she has grown, she has made soccer her main priority, having golf and basketball play supporting roles. Ava has worked very hard, always pushing herself to be better, ensuring that she would make it to the next level. She verbally committed in October of 2019 and officially signed this fall, making herself a Rambler at Loyola University Chicago.
When did you start playing soccer?
“I started playing soccer when I was 5 years old for AYSO. I really started to get into the game when I started playing for Crew Juniors, which is now called Midwest United whom I still play for.”
What made you want to continue playing soccer into college?
“I want to continue to play soccer in college because I absolutely love the game and want to continue to compete at the highest level that I can.”
What made you choose Loyola?
“I chose Loyola because it is an amazing academic school with a great soccer program. I love the environment that the coaching staff creates for the team and how the school is right by the city of Chicago.”
What are you most excited for during your college career?
“I am most excited to play for a great school and meet all of the girls on the team.”
What will you miss most about playing club soccer?
“I will miss all of my friends and teammates the most about playing club because we grew up playing with each other and all have become so close over the years.”
