The boys swim and dive team competed against the Byron Center Bulldogs in a matchup for the ages. The boys had a very successful start, as they began their first event in a 200 yard medley relay. The A-Team consisting of sophomores Ben Rogala and Isaac Stewart, along with junior Benji Zorn and star senior Avery LeTourneau, took the top spot in this race. This tandem of elite Ranger swimmers put together a time of 1:42.62, followed closely by the Bulldog A-Team’s time of 1:44.12.

The second event was the 200 yard freestyle, which was a smooth win for the Rangers. Freshman Reed Dixon took home this win with a time of 1:53.51. Finishing in second and third was the junior duo of Roman Kalaczinzki and Andrew Kerssies. These two had a total time of 1:58.42 and 2:03.28 respectively, which gave crucial points to FHC in their big win. Junior Cole Hysong also compiled yet another impressive score of a 266.65 to add to the Rangers’ impressive resumé.

Avery took home the win in the 50 yard free with a time of 22.52, followed closely by sophomore Gavin Cal, who tagged in a time of 23.70. Avery also finished with a time of 54:98 in the 100 yard backstroke, which is yet another phenomenal time that sets him high and above any other competitors in the OK White. Also adding to the performance, was Reed in the 500 yard freestyle. Reed beat the closest time by nearly 20 seconds, and finished with a time of 5:08.78. This was a big time for the Rangers, and was much needed to get the win over the Bulldogs.

The Rangers now fall to an even 2-2 on the season despite all adversity. The boys will need to compete and score well yet again in order to come on top against East Grand Rapids. FHC faces the Pioneers next Tuesday, February 23 in East Grand Rapids.
