Boys varsity tennis comes back and defeats Grand Rapids Christian 7-1

Coming off of a quad this past weekend, the boys continued to play strong and beat the Grand Rapids Christian Eagles 7-1 in their dual match last night. The Eagles were great competitors, but the Rangers had some great plays and came out on top.

Two doubles partners senior Nick Stockenaur and junior Walker Sjolin took the lead and swept their opponents, going 6-0 and 6-0 for their match. The two continued their winning streak after dominating over the weekend; they won one match but were unfortunately rained out before they could finish the next.

Four doubles partners junior Devin Holcombe and sophomore Noah Kriekard went into three sets with their competitors. After taking the first but losing the second, the boys rallied and won the third set, going 7-5, 5-7, and then 6-3 for the match.

Sophomore Chris Shang also monopolized the court in his three singles match. He went 6-1 in his first set and took a close 6-4 in his second set, winning a point for the Rangers’ overall team score.

Continuing to dominate with a season record of 8-1-3, the team will head to a tri down at Midland Dow tomorrow, facing off against Midland Dow and University of Detroit Jesuit.
