2022 Michigan Football: What is next after dominating Penn State?

As fall sports here at FHC come to a close, college football is finally beginning to ramp up. The Michigan Wolverines played great last Saturday, and they hope to keep the momentum going into the bye week.

Blake Corum, on 28 rushing attempts, accumulated 166 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. Donovan Edwards, on 16 rushing attempts, tallied 173 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. When Blake Corum was asked to comment on their performances, he called to the two teammates, “lightning, and lightning”.

Michigan played outstanding last Saturday in the Big House. The nationally ranked (#10 at the time) Penn State was supposed to be one of the first “tests” for the Wolverines. This was just not the case, for Michigan dominated on the stat sheet and on the field winning 41-17. Before the game, Fox Sports analyst Urban Meyer had this to say about the Michigan run game and how it would be slowed, or stopped, during the game: “We all agree Penn State will shut down — or slow down — the Wolverine run game. There’s no doubt.” Well Urban, you have been very wrong before, and here’s news for you, the Michigan run game is here to stay. I’m happy to report that during the week, Urban has taken a lot of heat about his comments.

After the bye, the Wolverines will jump in feet first to the Big House for a legendary matchup against Michigan State. Michigan leads the all time series 71-38-5, and they also look to add another loss to MSU’s season and make their record 3-5. However, Michigan needs to build on their success this year in preparation for the big game on October 29. Even though MSU has not had the success they wanted to have this season, the team has won the last two matchups against the Wolverines. Rivalry games are always interesting because anything can happen; MSU never seems to care what its record or its playoff aspirations are; Sparty just wants to demolish Michigan.

Down south in Columbus, Ohio State had its last week bye and looked to get back into action with a matchup with Iowa at the Horseshoe. I didn’t think this game would be close, even though Iowa has a great defense and an even better punter. Ohio State had too good of an offensive attack and Iowa had nothing on the offensive side of the ball. The Buckeyes would get the victory 54-10. OSU looks very, very, very good, and you know that on November 26, the Buckeyes will be ready. Don’t underestimate Michigan though because believe me, they will bring their A-game as well.
