Cross country teams finish 4th and 3rd at the OK White championship
Junior Sam Yeager and freshman Clara James-Heer led the way again for the Ranger cross country team as they traveled to Byron Center for the OK White championship, trying to keep up their momentum going from their past couple of meets. They hit a couple of bumps in the road as the girls finished 3rd and the guys finished 4th on Wednesday.
“The guys and girls had an amazing day today and it doesn’t show on the results,” head coach Ryan Schipper said.
The guys took off first and had a great start, but they eventually didn’t finish where they wanted to in the end. The Rangers’ top finisher of the day was Sam as he finished in 6th place with a time of 16 minutes and 43 seconds. The next 2 finishers for the Rangers were sophomore Ethan Krampe and senior Kyle James-Heer. They both finished in the top 15, which led to a 4th place finish as a team.
The girls took off last and had an almost mirror performance as the guys did. The top finisher for the lady Rangers was Clara as she finished in 3rd place with a time of 18 minutes and 19 seconds. The next couple of finishers for the girls were senior Whitney Currie who finished 7th with a time of 18 minutes and 47 seconds and freshman Peyton Ludwig who finished 18th with a time of 19 minutes and 37 seconds. These performances led the lady Rangers to a 3rd place finish as a team.
The Rangers will look to bounce back this week Saturday, October 17th as they travel to Gainey Athletic Complex for a final time for the annual Kent County meet.
