The boys and girls cross country teams both traveled to Gainey Athletic Complex this past Saturday. The girls did exceptionally as they finished second, and the boys finished fourth on the day.

“We are racing much better as a team,” head coach Ryan Schipper said. “As the future comes around, this season with colder weather, we are looking for a lot faster times.”

The boys started off first, and they had the same trio finish in the top 25 with junior Sam Yeager, senior Kyle James-Heer, and sophomore Ethan Krampe coming in first. Sam was the top finisher for the Rangers. He finished 10th with a time of 16 minutes and 4 seconds. Other notable finishers were seniors Tanner Wooden and Jonah Cumings, who both finished in the top 30.

The girls took off next and had another duo of top 10 finishers. The top finisher for the lady Rangers was freshman Clara James-Heer. She finished first with a personal record time of 18 minutes and 4 seconds. The other top 10 finisher was senior Whitney Currie. She finished in fourth place with a time of 19 minutes and 15 seconds. Other notable top 20 finishers were freshman Peyton Ludwig and junior Claire Richardson.

“We are gearing up for the championship part of our season and are looking forward to our next couple of meets,” Schipper said.

The next meet for the Rangers will be this upcoming Saturday, October 3rd at Ottawa Hills.
