The girls varsity water polo team beats Grand Haven with only one more game until districts

The girls varsity water polo season is dwindling down and the girls only have a few more games to prove themselves, but that won’t stop them from giving it their all.

On Thursday, May 5, the Forest Hills team took on Grand Haven again in hopes of adding another win to its belt going into the district playoffs.

The Forest Hills team put it all on the line during all four periods of the game, and with all its talent and strength, the team was successful in holding off Grandville.

“Everyone played well and worked together and this was the second year in a row that we beat Grand Haven,” Anna Wiecherties said. “We won by more points in this game than when we faced them earlier this season.”

This win was extremely important for the team in getting higher seeding for the district tournament this week and will help the team be one step ahead of its competitors. With the girls’ next game determining how their districts will look, they must show their skills and how hard they have worked to make it all the way.

The girls compete next on Monday, May 9, when they take on Portage High School in hopes of snagging another win before districts on Friday, May 13.
