The FH girls varsity water polo team almost pulls off a win against EGR
With each week of the spring sports season, the competition gets more heated. This week, the girls Forest Hills varsity water polo team took on East Grand Rapids in one of the toughest matchups it has had yet.
It was a very close battle up until the last period, as the girls put their heart and soul into trying to get the victory over their rival. With EGR being a highly-praised team, a win for the FH team would be a huge one for the books early in the season.
“I feel the team played great,” sophomore Ashley Schenck said. “We kept it close and were tied up until the last quarter.”
Despite trying its best to keep up with the Pioneers, the FH team fell 10-8 to EGR in a close game. The team might have lost, but the score speaks volumes about its grit and skills to compete against some of the top teams in the area.
“The team played strong and did their best, especially against as skilled of a team [that] EGR is,” goalie Sydney Bacon said.
The girls are away at Hudsonville on Friday, April 22, and they are fired up to hopefully add a win to their record.
“I think as a team, we have really learned to work together. We continue to get better with each game and learn something new after each as well,” Sydney VanLente said.
