In another match for the record books for girls varsity soccer, the Rangers added another victory to their all-time win column versus Forest Hills Northern. The cross-town rivalry between FHC and FHN took place on a very cold, rainy day for soccer, but FHC looked as dominant as always.

The highly successful RGSO offense led by senior Theryn Hallock, junior Dailey Tucker, and senior Lauren Koczenasz once again proved why FHC has been such a strong team to start the year.

In the net, senior goalie Ava Wilberding continued to shine, as she deflected shots away from the net all night while the defense controlled the pace of the game. On offense, Hallock led the team in goals with another hat-trick, amounting her goal total to ten on the season.

Elsewhere, Tucker managed to put one in the back of the net and senior Ruthie VanSkiver sniped one in the bottom-left corner from deep. The final score of the contest ended with FHC gaining a 5-1 victory over the Huskies.

The Rangers advance to 4-1 on the season and are now 2-0 in conference play. The rest of the week will see FHC square off with the Greenville Yellow Jackets on Wednesday, April 20, on the road. Next week, RGSO will face off with two more OK-White opponents, with games against both Lowell and Grand Rapids Christian. After picking up another huge victory, RGSO looks forward to trying to extend its hot streak and pick up three more conference wins.

“It felt great to beat FHN,” senior Katie Hurbanis said. “Every year, they are always our biggest rival and a tough team to beat, so beating them 5-1 felt awesome and showed everyone who the better team is.”
