In the third game of the season, the girls JV soccer team grew as a team along with its overall skills. In the first game of the season the girls faced off against Caledonia and fell short in a tough 1-0 match, but the girls did not give up. 

Sophomore Madi Evans is proud of the girls and how hard they have worked to get ready for the second game of the season. They could finally show off their skills against the Byron Center Bulldogs.

“I think the first game went well considering we had never played together as a team,” Madi said. “There’s definitely some things we can work on but altogether, considering the conditions, I think we did a really great job”. 

The hard work paid off, because the girls tied with a score of 1-1. Sophomore Jenna Lowell is proud to be a part of the team and continues to watch herself grow as a player along with watching the younger girls grow. 

“The season has gone pretty good even though we were off to a rough start with the first game but we are just getting our footing and the season is going to get a lot better,” Jenna said. “Being older comes with a lot of responsibility to be more like a role model but I do believe that we are going to go far as a team.”

Continuing to improve its skills, the girls JV soccer team won its third game with a goal by Gretta Kriekard.

Coach John Blodgett is proud of the girls along with how much they have already bonded as a team and shown off to their competition during the first three games of the season. 

“The defense as a whole has been great. Jenna Lowell has been fantastic in goal. Addison Reuter stood out at center-back in our game on Tuesday against Byron Center, stopping a number of goal-scoring opportunities,” coach Blodgett said.

The girls’ next game is April 18, at 5:00 PM against Forest Hills Northern at home. Make sure to make it out to the game to watch the team continue to outshine the competition.
