JV girls Basketball notches its first win of the season
With the second game of the season putting a check-mark in the win column, the girls JV Basketball team has moved to 1-1 on the season.
Freshman Inara Banks had another outstanding game, helping the team dominate district rivals–the Forest Hills Eastern Hawks–by a final score of 42-16.
Aside from Inara’s big game, a dominating performance came from Addison Reuter, who had 8 points and also led the team in rebounds. Gigi Sinicrope led the team in steals and was a spark on the defensive side of the ball, putting pressure on the Hawk guards. Lacey Smith and Zenash Cummings also had big defensive impacts by making game-changing stops and forcing turnovers.
“Every girl contributed,” head coach Javontae Ford said. “The whole team contributed to help the Lady Rangers secure their first win.”
Due to a small team of girls, the team has had to practice hard in order to make sure that everyone can do their part come game-time.
“We have been practicing a lot and doing conditioning,” sophomore Gigi Sinicrope stated. “We need to be ready for games because we have such a small team.”
The coaches have been pushing the girls to top condition because of the small roster size in order to keep up with the depth of teams they will be playing.
“The coaches push us really hard at most practices and are hard on us, but I think it usually pays off,” Gigi said. “They are tough a lot of the time with running and other things, but usually it helps us stay focused and be more successful.”
